I was a chief medical officer and before that Chairman of Medicine at of one of California's largest teaching hospitals. I have held academic titles at Harvard, Stanford and currently at UCSF. I am a practicing Internist and endocrinologist. I have done legal -medical work for > 30 years., I am in part- time practice and thus have more time to do legal expert work . In the past, I have mostly done defense. However in the last few years, I have participated in about 1o cases/year- a mix of plaintiff and defense cases. I have expertise and have provided testimony or opinions in:.- All aspects of endocrinology and diabetes- diabetes emergencies, complications such as diabetic ulcers, , thyroid disease ( particular expertise), adrenal tumors including pheochromocytoma and Cushing;s, , accident-related or sports-related pituitary trauma and pituitary tumors. I have also been retained for Complex Internal medicine cases- wherein the issue is what is really going on or what was the real cause of death or illness . I have done many cases in Medical administration-- doctor v. hospital; hospital trying to exit a doctor; or medical provider versus their board ( extensive experience). I know a lot about residency education since I chaired the National RRC for medicine ; but although I teach, I have not been active in residency administration for a while. Of note, for 40 years I was the team physician of the Oakland Athletics Baseball team.
