Eric Strickland

With 31 years in the field of playground design, manufacture and installation, combined with consultation on playground safety training for churches, child care centers, governmental agencies and military installations plus direct experience supervising children at play and supervising staff members who supervised children at play, I bring more than just my Certification as a Playground Safety Inspector to the various roles in which I participate. Whether as a playground safety inspector, staff trainer, consultant or expert witness, I can assist with just about any aspect of litigation preparation. Having authored more than 40 articles on play and playground safety and having presented more than 60 sessions on play and playgrounds in state, national and international settings, I have developed both writing skills and presentation skills that serve to effectively focus on critical issues and discuss them with clarity. Additionally, I previously served as a charter member on the board of the National Program for Playground Safety under the auspices of the University of Iowa and as a member of the ASTM F1487 committee on playgrounds. I had the distinct pleasure of serving as the graduate teaching assistant to Dr. Joe Frost - one of the original authors of the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Handbook for Public Playground Safety during my doctoral program at the University of Texas at Austin where I completed my research on children’s play.
